We are very proud to have contributed to this incredible mission, so we called the helmet "SOLAR X" in honor of this unique adventure.

• Shell made of strong polycarbonate: The 3 mm thickness polycarbonate shell has the advantage to be very light but still very strong.
• Polystyrene reinforced: The polystyrene is reinforced with one more layer of polycarbonate to achieve the hard penetration test of the E.N. 966 certification.
  Between the shell and the polystyrene there are 2 channels with their wholes for the air flow
• Airflow inside the helmet: You can open or close the entrance of the air into the helmet just with one hand and while you are flying
• Visor: The visor is an option. It is made of polycarbonate with anti-scratch and anti-fog treatment. 2 types are available: Short, tranparent and tinted brown. Long, tranparent, tinted brown and mirror
• Sizes: There are 3 available sizes with wheel regulator for a perfect fit of the head circumference from 53 cm to 61 cm. The size of a helmet is always described by the inner circumference of the internal padding. The size number therefore corresponds to the head circumference in centimetres.
• Interchangeable internal padding: 3 internal paddings are adapted to the 3 sizes determinated by the wheel regulator situated in the back of the helmet. They can be replaced by larger or smaller padding pieces included the wheel regulator, thus varying the helmet size.
  You just choose your own size of ICARO tailored inner helmet lining for a safe, perfectly comfortable head fit. It can be changed in moments in case a different size is needed.
  The important advantage: you can easily remove the padding and replace it with a new one or just wash it.
• Covering shell edge: For the first time we don't use the normal rubber to cover the edge of the shell, we found the method to stich a strip of fabric around all the helmet. The result is just unique and beautiful
• Steel wire sidepieces: The stainless steel wire sidepieces are plastic-coated.
• Micrometric chinstrap: The chinstrap is millimetrical adjustable.
• Ear defenders or electronic headsets: The Solar X helmet is certified only with attached ear defenders or electronic headsets. You can choose from our wide range of elechtronics and we mount them perfectly onto the helmet. The advantages of wearing a headset fixed to the helmet.

• Certification E.N. 966: Ear defenders, or alternatively electronic headsets fixed to the helmet, are mandatory for EN 966 certification. The Solar X 2 is certified only with attached ear defenders or electronic headsets.
  The Solar X has been tested by the italian laboratory Newton a company authorized by the Italian Ministry of Transport. All our helmets are designed especially for free flight and micro light pilots, in accordance with the European standards (EN 966).

  Optimized design down to the smallest detail, paying special attention to aerodynamics, and being able to open or close the air intake in the helmet with just one hand while flying.

• Reinforced polystyrene

  Reinforced with one more layer of polycarbonate, with 2 channels with their holes between the shell and the polystyrene, to allow air flow.

• Micrometric chinstrap

  With the pilot's comfort in mind, the chinstrap closure can be adjusted to the millimeter.

• Windshield visor

  Possibility of attaching a polycarbonate windshield visor with anti-scratch and anti-fog treatment, in different colours.

• Interchangeable padding

  Interchangeable inner padding: to replace it with another, adjust size or simply to wash it. Maximum hygiene and comfort, also allows to extend the useful life of the helmet.

The NAC-INTERCOM communication electronics

Advanced NAC-Intercom communication system to connect all kind of radios and intercoms. Connection to FM Radios (2 meterss, PMR446, LPD443 or FRS/GMRS), AM Radios (VHF Airband) and Intercomms. Connection is established by an interchangeable, spiral shielded cable (to avoid any interference) and a Mini-XLR connector. Therefore, you can use this helmet with multiple different radios, replace it easily if damaged or simply do not plug it to avoid entanglements if you fly without a radio.
The microphone is very flexible and can rotate 270º so you can either place it on the left of right side. It also incorporates an electret noise cancel microphone with a windstopper foam cover.
Communication is activated by the PTT button (Push-to-Talk), which is placed on the outer part of the shell (You can choose the side where you would like it to be placed). The PTT button is wide and sensitive and has been made with silver contacts and a constant pressure for a flawless performance. The excellent quality of the communication is achieved thanks to the noise suppression obtained by a microphone that has been specifically designed for these purposes. If your walkie comes with a VOX system, then there is no need to press the PTT. Just talk to activate the transmission. (A special cable might be necessary but we strongly disapprove of using it to avoid an accidental activation of the transmission). Lastly, it is possible to choose a medium or high-attenuation ear defender depending on the intensity of the noise generated by the engine (OPII to medium attenuation and X5 to extreme attenuation).

• Radio/intercom connection

  Connect all kind of radios (FM and AM) as well as intercoms, through its miniXLR connector.

• Change the radio, not your helmet

  The interchangeable Mini-XLR, spiral shielded to avoid any interference, allows to use this helmet with multiple different radios, replace it easily if damaged or simply do not plug it to avoid entanglements.

• Electret microphone

  Electret noise cancel microphone with windstopper foam cover, with flexible articulated boom 270º can position the headset in the right or left side.

• Ideal for airsports

  Thanks to our experience of more than 14 years in the aviation sector, we have developed the perfect electronics for airsports, damping the noise of wind and engines, and enhancing the quality of communication.

• Avoid tangles

• Push-to-Talk

  The excellent quality of the communication achieved thanks to the noise suppression microphone that has been specifically designed for it.

• Attenuation levels

  Choose different ear protection according your activity: medium (OPII, 31db) or extreme (X5, 37db) attenuation.

• Flying comfort

  The selected ear protectors are made for prolonged periods of use, keeping constant pressure and reducing heat accumulation.

• Bluetooth® option

  Devices of the prestigious SENA brand, allows wireless connection to the mobile phone to listen to HI-FI music, make calls or intercommunicate with other helmets in tandem flight.

3M PELTOR OPII (31dB): developed for demanding noise-hazard environments and muffles even extremely low frequencies to a maximum degree. The sealing rings are filled with a unique combination of liquid and foam. The result is an optimum seal with low contact pressure, which provides snug comfort even during long-time use. The sealing rings have ventilation channels and are covered with soft, patterned, hygienic foil.

3M PELTOR X5 (37db): For use in extremely high-noise exposure environtments keeping a lightweight with excellent balance and comfort. Unique attenuation as a result of optimum combination of specially-formulated foam featured in the earcups, cushions and the innovative spacer and cup design, and a newly-designed spacer improving attenuation without excess bulk or weight.
Earcups tilt for optimum comfort and efficiency, wire headband offers comfortable pressure, a new special foam.. makes this groundbreaking ear protector a pleasure to wear during prolonged usage.
